Marija Kandić (born in Užice, Serbia) is active as accordionists in many different fields - solo, chamber music, ensembles, symphonic orchestra - contemporary music, (pre-)classical music, baroque music, opera, theatre, dance theatre, improvisation, pop-avantgarde/jazz, film music, sound art, multimedial concert formats (electronics, video).
She performed as solist and chamber musician in Europe, Canada and India. She devotes herself to the contemporary music, works together with composers and performs in different chamber music formations. The Accordion Duo Sjöblom-Kandić performs contemporary works for two accordions (including premieres) as well as Baroque, pre-classical and classical music and hostes workshops. The duo won 1st Prize at the 47th International accordion competition 2010 in Klingenthal (Germany).
Marija Kandić performed as a guest in the orchestras: Semperoper Dresden, Staatstheater Meiningen, Staatskapelle Weimar, Musikalische Komödie Leipzig, 1. Deutsches Stromorchester etc. She participated as musician-actress in the movie "Luft/Air" (2017) by Anatol Schuster and in different musical theatre productions. She explores also the fields of jazz/improvisation/pop-avantgarde, e.g. with Pegelia Gold: CD „Polaris“ (2013, with Art Zentral), CD “Echospheres” (2017, with Polychrome Orchestra), Mahler Project (2022).
Marija Kandić graduated music studies with prof. Ivan Koval (Weimar) and prof. Stefan Hussong in (Würzburg) in Germany and took part in master-classes with Hugo Noth, Matti Rantanen, Margit Kern, Geir Draugsvoll. She is herself accordion teacher in Germany since 2005.

Marija Kandić (geboren in Užice, Serbien) ist als Akkordeonistin vielseitig tätig – solistisch, kammermusikalisch und in großen Ensembles/Orchestern – Neue Musik, klassische und Barock-Musik, Oper, Theater, Tanztheater, Improvisation, Pop-Avantgarde/Jazz, Filmmusik, Sound Art, multimediale Konzertformate (Elektronik, Video). Konzerte spielte sie in Europa, Kanada und Indien. Sie widmet sich der Ur-/Aufführung zeitgenössischer Musik und arbeitet mit Komponisten zusammen. Sie hatte Gastverpflichtungen in: Semperoper Dresden, Staatstheater Meiningen, Staatskapelle Weimar, Musikalische Komödie Leipzig, 1. Deutsches Stromorchester u.a.
Als Darstellerin-Musikerin wirkte sie im Spielfilm "Luft" (2017) von Anatol Schuster mit. Im Duo Sjöblom-Kandić (2 Akkordeons) gewann sie 2010 den 1. Preis beim 47. Internationalen Akkordeonwettbewerb in Klingenthal und spielte seitdem mehrere Uraufführungen. Seit 2010 wirkt sie intensiv in den Ensembles von Pegelia Gold mit: CD „Polaris“ (2013, mit Art Zentral), CD „Echospheres“ (2017, mit Polychrome Orchestra), Mahler-Projekt (2022).
In Serbien aufgewachsen, lebt Marija Kandić in Deutschland. Sie schloss ihr Musikstudium in Weimar und Würzburg bei Prof. Ivan Koval und Prof. Stefan Hussong mit Meisterklassendiplom ab. Seit 2005 ist sie auch als Dozentin für Akkordeon tätig.
